In Aburi, we explored the Botanical Gardens with the aim of understanding the local plant fibres historically used in Ghanaian crafts. Investigating the botanical side of textiles allowed us to see how cotton spinning connects with the natural environment—highlighting the interplay between agriculture, ecology, and artistry. This visit planted ideas about sustaining indigenous fibre plants in tandem with keeping local spinning techniques alive.
