Besides, she has been developing and participating in a series of transcultural projects with international partners from Bhutan, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Japan, Mali and Ghana, and also in art projects with children, people with disabilities, refugees, and women in psychological or social need. As both an artist and researcher, her interests are the practical and theoretical exploration and development of the textile element as a specific mediality, with regard to its appearance and significance in art, culture and society, but also to its potential as networking model. She considers textiles as a dynamic, widely distributed element within our material culture, while theory and practise always relate to and deepen each other. LINK

Nana Isaac Opoku aka. AFROSCOPE

has been practicing as a creative professional for over decade, working as a multidisciplinary artist and designer, and as a social entrepreneur. In his work he explores a range of themes including decolonisation, oneness, information overload, and most recently the concept of deep adaptation. He engages with these topics in very experimental and speculative ways, and utilizes both digital technologies and traditional analogue mediums in his process. Community and collaboration are also core aspects of his practice: He is a part of various creative teams and cultural organisations, and also works closely with indigenous artisans across Ghana. He has also worked with brands like Apple and Adobe, and has cofounded impact organisations such as House of Stole and Cocoa360. AFROSCOPE represented Ghana at the Venice Biennale in 2022, and has shown work at 1:54 London, Art Dubai, and in several other exhibitions as well. LINK

This arts-based research project is carried out by the core team consisting of Karin Altmann and Nana Opoku aka.
